Mother's Day 2009

Mother's Day 2009

Hello!  My name is Angela Seeling and I am a wife, mama, and intern midwife.  I am married to an amazing man named Caleb and mother to 4 gorgeous children -  Malachi (8), twins – Acacia and Ameena (6), and Haleigh (3), all born at home with the assistance of midwives and doulas.  Click here to read our twin birth story.

My professional journey as a student of midwifery began in 1998, before ever having children of my own.  I left my Information Technology career to work alongside single mothers at a maternity home as their mentor and doula. I fell in love with supporting women and couples during the powerful and intimate experience of birth and encouraging them in their role as parents.  Over the past 13 years I have had the honor of attending approximately 200 births in various hospitals, homes, and at Mountain Midwifery birth center.

I received my doula and childbirth educator certification through CAPPA (www.cappa.net).  I went on to complete a homebirth midwife assistant’s course, numerous midwifery skills workshops and am currently an Intern Midwife with Mosaic Midwifery and Origins Midwifery.  I have experience with homebirth, water birth, natural and medicated hospital birth, c-sections, VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), and multiples.

In 2003, I co-founded a non-profit family organization called Xylem Family Resource designed to educate, encourage and support families from pregnancy through parenthood and was privileged to lead the Family Preparation branch.

In 2005, the homebirth of my twins solidified my desire to support families in an out of hospital setting.  Currently, I am a student of Advanced Midwifery Studies with Ancient Art Midwifery Institute and will graduate in 2013.
